Kuala Lumpur – Unexpectedly Deputy Education Minister Kamalanathan backed out from the race for Vice President in the run-up to MIC elections and declared today that he would only go the post of Central Working Committee (CWC) member.
Kamalanathan said he prefers to serve just as a CWC member and does not want to disrupt party unity by going for Vice Presidency. He said he also would like to continue his services more effectively as a member of Parliament for Hulu Selangor and Deputy Education Minister.
Earlier MIC sources were predicting that Kamalanathan would go for the post of Vice President.
Kamalanathan made the announcement today in a packed press conference at the Nethaji Hall, MIC Headquarters, Kuala Lumpur.
