50 areas in KL affected by unscheduled water supply interruptions

KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 – Fifty areas around the federal capital faced unscheduled water supply interruption and low pressure problems from yesterday because of a drop in the levels at the main reservoirs, said Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd’s (Syabas) corporate communications and public affairs department assistant general manager Priscilla Alfred.

syabas_07In a statement here today, she said among the areas affected were Taman Bukit Permai, Taman Mutiara Seputeh, Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Brickfields, Taman Maluri and Taman Nirwana. She added that Syabas activated its Emergency Response Plan (ERP) at 6pm on Monday to address the situation and was taking all necessary steps to assist affected residents.

Consumers can call Syabas Customer Care Centre (PUSPEL) at toll-free number  1-800-88-5252 or access its Facebook and Twitter sites for more information and assistance. In a separate matter, Syabas executive director Yusof Badawi said the
company received 659 complaints on water theft involving losses of RM975,408.39 since January this year and that they would come down hard on offenders. He told this to reporters after accompanying an enforcement team on raids at construction sites of various projects in the city to see if any water theft was going on.
