Los Angeles, March 20, 2013- Troubled actor Lindsay Lohan(Pic) has agreed to spend 90 days in a rehabilitation facility as part of a plea deal to settle criminal charges against her.
The 26-year-old, who came 45 minutes late for her scheduled hearing at an LA courthouse clad in a white and pink ensemble, pleaded no contest on two misdemeanour charges relating to a traffic accident last summer and obstructing officers who were investigating the accident, reported Us magazine.
The charges stem from a June 18, 2012 car accident in which Lohan’s Porsche rear-ended a truck while she was en route to the ‘Liz & Dick’ set. At the time of the accident, the actress claimed her assistant, Gavin Doyle, was behind the wheel.
The judge said Lohan will be sentenced to 90 days in rehab, 30 days of community labour and 18 months of psychological therapy.
The actress will also have to pay a USD 240 restitution fine and USD 30 criminal conviction assessment fee, in addition to paying restitution to the victim; that amount will be determined at her next court hearing on May 2.
Her six years of legal troubles trace back to two drunken driving arrests in 2007 and include other incidents in which she was behind the wheel.
She has spent 250 days in five rehab facilities since January 2007, including one long court-ordered stint after a failed drug test.
The actress has appeared in court at least 20 times before four LA judges who have now found her in violation of probation six times and sentenced her to a total of nine months in jail.
Lohan has spent about two weeks behind bars in six trips to the LA County jail, served 35 days under house arrest and worked about 67 days of community service at the county morgue.
