KUALA LUMPUR, March 20 – The Prime Minister’s Office has dismissed a rumour that the Dewan Rakyat was dissolved today to pave the way for the 13th general election. That information is not true at all, said the Twitter account of the Prime
Minister’s Press Office.

Z“The statement on the dissolution of Parliament today apparently emerging from the Prime Minister’s Office is false,” the Twitter account reported at 1.23 pm. The matter was confirmed by a media officer of the prime minister when reached by Bernama.

“No dissolution today,” the officer said.

The news, quoting a statement apparently issued by the prime minister, circulated on the social websites at about 12.30 pm after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was seen coming out of the Istana Negara this morning.  Najib was seen entering the Istana Negara at 7.55 am and leaving about an hour later.

It is customary for the prime minister to have an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong before he chairs the weekly meeting of the Cabinet, which is now held on Wednesdays.
