KUANTAN, March 22 – Those who ridicule or insult the members of the security forces looking after the peace and security of the nation are not qualified to become Malaysian citizens, said former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan(pic).
He said, insulting or ridiculing members of the security forces who were prepared to make sacrifices for the country, showed they did not respect the sovereignty of the nation.
“A person is not qualified to become a citizen if he has no patriotic spirit and ridicules the security forces,” he told Bernama after becoming a panellist at a National Scholars’ Discourse programme titled ‘Lahad Datu: The Effects and
Challenges Towards The Threat to National Security”, here, today. Another panelist of the programme organised by the the Special Affairs Department (JASA) of Pahang, former army field commander Lieutenant-General (Rtd) Zaini Mohd Said said, the action of certain parties who insulted and ridiculed the security forces was akin to a thorn in the flesh.
“We should support what is being carried out by the security forces to protect the country’s sovereignty. They are also human. When they are ridiculed, they will also have doubts when they are at the frontline,” he said.
Meanwhile, in LAHAD DATU, former Mufti of Johor Datuk Nooh Gadot said the action of the terrorists from southern Philippines who intruded into Lahad Datu was only following their lust and personal interests and not in the interest of
Islam. Nooh, who is also Johor’s Islamic Religious Council’s adviser, said their action was meaningless and had strayed from the path of Islam.
“They fight based on their lust, obsession, following satan, have personal interest and not religious interest or to save the nation,” he told Bernama when met at the Felda Sahabat’s Cenderawasih Hall, near here, today.
Since the intrusion began on Feb 12, 63 terrorists have been killed including one who was shot dead yesterday while nine members of the Malaysian security forces died in combat while another died after his truck was involved in an accident.
