KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 – Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s statement that he may contest a parliamentary seat in Perak in the next general election indicates his dwindling confidence of his grip in his Permatang Pauh seat.
Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said Malaysia was a free country, and “Anwar can go anywhere he wants to go, but winning is a totally different story”.
“I mean if he wants to run away from Permatang Pauh, it’s okay. This clearly indicates that his confidence in the (Permatang Pauh) parliamentary (seat) is draining day by day,” he told reporters after delivering his speech at the inaugural conference of World Muslim Enterprise Federation cum World Muslim Economic Forum, here, today.
The de facto leader of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) recently said he may contest a parliamentary seat in Perak in the coming general election, when asked whether he will be defending his Permatang Pauh Parliament seat.
