SEREMBAN, March 23 – The Barisan Nasional (BN) can win at least 25 state seats in Negeri Sembilan in the upcoming general election to maintain its hold on the state, said Jelebu MP Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim(pic). He said the forecast was based on the efforts and development implemented by the state government which had brought enormous benefits to the people.

“I am confident that out of 36 seats in the state assembly, the BN can win at least 25 seats,” he said when speaking at a ‘Leader with the People’ session and a ‘Getting to know your Neighbours’ campaign at the Tun Dr Ismail flats here
today.

‘If we observe, what has been done by the present member of Parliament and the assemblyman in this area? They do not cooperate with the local authorities, and therefore the people’s problems such as blocked drains, leaking tanks and so on are not resolved,” he said.

Rais, who is also the Minister of Information, Commnications and Culture, said the people should not vote candidates who only fought for certain communities when the should be championing welfare of society as a whole. Apart from that, he said the people should be aware that the opposition had always been asking for a change of government but this would remain as empty talk as they could not assure the people a better future if they were to rule.

Meanwhile, he said his ministry had been implementing the ‘Know Your Neighbour’ programme throughout the country to bring the people closer and ensure the various races lived harmoniously together.

“Between the Malays and Chinese, Chinese and Indians, Indians and Malays, we are becoming fiendlier,” he said At the function, Rais also presented 1Malaysia laptops and essential goods assistance to several of the flats residents.
