PASIR PUTEH, March 27 – The people should punish the PAS state government at the polls for giving big chunks of land to corporate bodies from outside Kelantan. Information Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim(Pic) said he was told that 1.7 million acres (0.68 million hectares ) land had been distributed.
“Kelantan people must take serious view about the distribution of land for the sake of future generations,” he told reporters after opening Pasir Puteh Culture Roadshow at Dataran TokJanggut, Kampung Nering here today.
The Kelantan PAS government should instead give state land to poor people such as the settlers in Hulu Kelantan.
“If its true that 1.7 million acres had been distributed, the 1.6 million Kelantan population must ponder what happened.
Based on the total land area involved, each person in Kelantan could end up with one acre land. The people of Kelantan should dispute the distribution of land and urge the state government to explain the matter. Rais slammed Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat for contradicting the views of other Malay figures and for ridiculing the nation’s achievements.
“He has never recognised the nation’s achievements but choose to support those who have no love for the Malay rulers and Malay culture,” he added.
