Tan Keng LiangALOR SETAR, March 29 – Threats of legal action to be taken on the Kedah Gerakan Youth following their exposure of the state government’s failure to implement three housing projects was to stop the movement from revealing more of the PAS government’s weaknesses.  Kedah Gerakan Youth Chief Tan Keng Liang(Pic) said they were not discouraged by the threats and would continue to be vocal to help resolve issues faced by the public.

He said the exposure made by the state Gerakan Youth on shortcomings by the state government was part of their responsibility as a political party to assist Kedah residents.

“The summons they intend on filing will not stop the Gerakan Youth’s efforts to highlight their weakness in our hope for a better future,” he said at a news conference, here today.

Tan was commenting on a report in a Chinese daily today on a statement by a state government leader that Seri Temin Development Corporation (M) Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the Kedah State Development Corporation responsible for the Bandar Sejahtera project in Pokok Sena, wanted to sue the state Gerakan Youth for allegedly issuing a statement that the RM230 million Bandar Sejahtera project involving 1,811 housing units had been abandoned.

“I never issued such a statement. They are deliberately twisting my words. I have proof of the press statement I distributed to journalists. I even have the press statement on Facebook,” he said. He said the allegations aimed to taint his image and affect his credibility.

“They twisted the statement by saying what was never said so that it looks like what was revealed on the state government’s shortcomings cannot be trusted,” he said.

Tan had previously frequently brought up the failures of the state government administration which includes logging projects in Papua New Guinea, failure to complete 660 low-cost apartment units in Bandar Darul Aman, Jitra, and 928 affordable and low-cost housing units in Bandar Tunku Puteri, Pokok Sena.
