KOTA KINABALU, March 30 – Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman has clarified that Semporna had been put inside the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) from the outset. Musa, who is also East Sabah Safety Zone (ESSZONE) chairman, said as such, the issue of the district not being included in the safety zone did not arise.
“I want to clarify that Semporna has been included from the outset and had never left the safety zone,” he said when commenting on the confusion that Semporna was not included in the formation of ESSCOM which was announced by
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on March 7.
He said, Semporna was the main area which was included in ESSCOM covering the districts of Kudat, Tawau, Kunak, Sandakan dan Lahad Datu, to look after the sovereignty and security of the coastal region on the east coast of Sabah.
