KUALA LUMPUR – The police today advised the people to observe the laws during the chariot procession that begins on Saturday in conjunction with Thaipusam on Monday.
Sentul District Police chief ACP S. Shanmugamoorthy Chinnah said the chariot would use several roads in the Sentul Police District on its way to Batu Caves.
Based on past experience, several unlawful activities were detected during the procession, such as excessive noise caused by the revving of modified motorcycles and some people being under the influence of liquor, which hampered the peaceful atmosphere, he said in a statement.
He said firm preventive and enforcement action would be taken in accordance with the law.
“This is necessary to ensure that provocative behaviour does not disrupt the peace and order during the religious festival,” he said.
