New Delhi, April 3, 2013 -The tough competition ensuing between Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar will now bear on the promotions of the T20 cricket tournament, the sixth edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). If you remember, sometime back we had informed you about the box office clash between these two Bollywood bigwigs at Eid this year.
Akshay Kumar’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again (OUATIM 2) and Shah Rukh Khan’sChennai Express are set to clash at the box office this Eid.
If reports are to be believed, the makers of Akshay Kumar starrerOnce Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again were in talks with IPL organizers for the promotional activities of their film during the cricket tournament. “The tie-up was being talked about, since the IPL gets a lot of viewership. And though the organizers don’t want the focus to move away from cricket, they do tie-up with big films,” a leading tabloid quoted an insider as saying.
Furthermore, rumour mills also suggest that Shah Rukh Khan did manage to keep bete noire Akshay Kumar’s filmOnce Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again away from the tournament.
The tabloid quoted another source as saying, “He has asked Cineyug (run by the Morani brothers, who are close to SRK), the firm that is helping put together the ceremony, to ensure that OUATIM 2 gets no visibility at the event. Besides, SRK not only owns an IPL team (Kolkata Knight Riders), but is also close to the league’s top brass.”
While Morani brothers could not be contacted by the tabloid, some members from SRK’s team on request of anonymity strongly refuted the entire report.
