KUALA LUMPUR, April 3 – The Pakatan opposition pact of DAP, PAS and PKR said today it is all set for the 13th general election, after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced the dissolution of the Dewan Rakyat. DAP organising secretary Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the party’s list of candidates would be finalised at a meeting to be held soon.
PAS vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar said the party had been gearing up for the dissolution over the past two years.
“The list of candidates is ready and many of the candidates are new faces,” he said, adding that PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang would announce the candidates in two or three days. PKR vice-president Tian Chua told Bernama the dissolution was most awaited by the party.
“Right now, we are waiting for the menteris besar and chief minister of the states under our administration to seek the consent of the sultans and the Yang Dipertua Negeri to dissolve the state legislative assemblies,” he said. The Pakatan opposition pact administers Kelantan, Kedah, Selangor and Penang.
