5 April 2013-Many actresses from Tamil films did not turn up to the token fast called by Nadigar Sangam, the South Indian Film Artistes’ Association (SIFAA), on Tuesday (April 2). While stars like Rajinikanth, Kamal Hassan, Ajith Kumar and many postponed all their work and attended the strike, a couple of female stars failed to be part of it.
It seems Nadigar Sangam has taken it seriously and has decided to send notices to all those actresses, who failed to stand up for the cause. Tamil film industry observed a token fast to protest alleged “war crimes” against Tamils in Sri Lanka. The whole industry came together to show up their solidarity. Many artists, directors, producers, distributors and exhibitors participated in the hunger-strike being held at the premises of South Indian Film Artists’ Association in Chennai.
Stars like Rajinikanth, Kamal Hassan, Ajith Kumar, Vikram, Surya Sivakumar, Karthi, Prakash Raj, Vishal Krishna, Arjun Sarja, Silambarasan, Sarath Kumar, Sathyaraj, Dhanush, Bharath, Jeeva, Sivaji Prabhu, Vikram Prabhu, Jayam Ravi and Arya were part of the event. However, it was not the same in case of heroines, as the actresses’ turn-out was poor.
Namitha, Lakshmi Rai, Dhansika, Ramya Krishnan, Urvashi, Ambika and Lakshmy Ramakrishnan, among others were spotted. But Trisha Krishnan came late to the venue due to her other commitment. But the big stars like Nayantara, Shriya, Tamanna and others skipped the strike. However, we are bringing you why they could not attend the event.
