PASIR SALAK, April 8 – Twenty-seven members of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) from the Parit 4A branch, in Kampung Sungai Manik Lama Kanan, here have left the party to join Umno. A representative of the group, Mohd Tarmizi Abu Bakar, 40, handed over the Umno membership application forms to the Pasir Salak Umno division head, Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, at a ceremony last night.
Mohd Tarmizi said they had joined PKR for three years but decided to leave the party as they had lost confidence in the party leadership. “We left the party on our own free will without any coercion from anyone and we are confident that only Umno can champion the cause of the Malays,” he told reporters, here last night. Earlier, 402 members of the PKR had left the party to join Umno.
