sabah policeKOTA KINABALU, April 9 – Six thousand policemen will be on duty in Sabah during the 13th General Election (GE13) to ensure safety of the public and to ensure a smooth election process. Sabah police contingent headquarters management chief SAC Noor Azam Jamaludin(Pic) said the number of policemen on duty was sufficient as the Sabah situation was now under control.

“All political parties should apply for police permits from the district police headquarters before organising any political rally and ceramah (political speeches) and they should control their supporters from going overboard,” he told reporters, here, today.

He gave assurance that Sabah was now safe as all leave applications for police officers and personnel had been freezed since the Sabah intrusion by Sulu terrorists from the southern Philippines, last February. Meanwhile, in a minor police reshuffle in Sabah, Noor Azam said Tuaran district police chief Supt Zaharudin Rashit will be the acting Tumpat district police chief in Kelantan while Deputy Supt Abdul Fuad Abdul Malik who was assigned in Papar will take over as the new Tuaran district police chief.  The public can contact the hotline number at 088-318555 for more information about GE13.
