KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 – ECS ICT Bhd (ECS), an MSC-status company, and Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn Bhd (Samsung Malaysia) sealed a business-to-business (B2B) distribution agreement today. Under the agreement, ECS subsidiary, ECS Astar Sdn Bhd’s nationwide network of resellers and corporate dealers will distribute Samsung notebook Pcs, tablet PCs, smartphones and phablets (like the Galaxy Note 11).
In a joint statement here today, the companies said the use of smart devices for B2B purposes is on the rise in corporate Malaysia.
“The Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) trend has altered the way enterprises approach the mobility of their workforce, encouraging a more customer-oriented and value management style,” the companies added. According to ICT market research firm, International Data Corporation, spending on smart mobility products in Malaysia is expected to reach approximately US$5.5 billion by 2016, up 20.6 per cent from the estimated US$4.6 billion expected this year.
Similarly, Malaysian government data estimates that adoption of smartphones and tablet PCs is expected to rise to 73 per cent and 48 per cent respectively, in the first three months of this year. Smartphone and tablet PC adoption in mid-June 2012 stood at 47 per cent and 14 per cent respectively. ECS ICT Bhd has been a distributor of Samsung’s pioneering technologies to the consumer market since 2005.
