SUNGAI SIPUT: Former MIC president S Samy Vellu has described Najib Tun Razak as being a true and honest leader when the prime minister declared that Barisan Nasional will correct past weaknesses in government policies involving the Indian community.
Samy Vellu said Najib was being very honest, frank and transparent in admitting that the Indians needed more attention through the introduction of new initiatives and policies within the next five years.
“The prime minister has already laid out new initiatives for the Indians in this country and we have seen the results of it. This must and should continue.
“The Indian community must now give their full and undivided support to Barisan Nasional in the coming elections to ensure Najib continues to helm the government and deliver on his promises,” the Sungai Siput BN chief told reporters after meeting voters in Sungai Siput today.
Najib had reportedly told during an interview with Bernama TV aired yesterday that the BN government would correct past weaknesses involving the Indian community in the development process of the country.
“The country has never seen before a prime minister who has dedicated himself to the people. Najib is telling the Indians to support him to ensure a better life and future for them and their children.
“The prime minister has given a new ray of hope for the Indians and he is steadfast in his commitment to alleviate poverty among the Indians and low income wage earners,” he said.
Samy Vellu said Najib was on the right track in helping the Indians through various affirmative policies and initiatives.
He said Najib would receive the support of the Indian voters in the coming general election as Indians were generally “a grateful community”.
“They will remember the deeds by someone and will stand by that person who has helped them,” Samy Vellu said.
He said he was sure that come polling day, Indian voters would “flood the ballot boxes with their votes for the BN as a vote for Najib will be a vote for the future of the Indians”.
