PEKAN: Barisan Nasional has never taken into account profits or losses when executing its social responsibility, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
“We are not carrying out a business.
“Barisan never counted profits or losses, we only count social responsibility,” he said at the launch of Kampung Orang Asli Gumum rural electricity supply here on Thursday.
The incumbent Pekan MP said although the village was deep into the rural area, the distance did not hamper Barisan to carry out projects for the people.
“Barisan spent RM1.8mil to supply electricity for 24 homes in the village.
“This means Barisan had spent RM75,000 for each house,” he said.
At the event, Najib also presented cash prize and tablets to 13 Orang Asli children who scored excellent results in the SPM examination last year.
Each student, who scored 6As and beyond, received RM1,000 and an iPad.
