KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 – The MCA has placed a second order for its election panda mascot named “Wen Wen” after the initial batch was snapped up like hot cakes since its launch just 10 days ago.
“The first batch of the stock has almost run out now; we distributed it to all the states. I hope the new order will arrive in these few days,” said MCA Publicity Bureau chief Datuk Heng Seai Kie, when contacted.
“Wen” means stability in Mandarin, in line with the MCA’s election slogan of “Stability above Chaos”.
Heng said the panda was also chosen as the mascot to reflect the strong bilateral ties between Malaysia and China under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. The cute little mascot, with the 1Malaysia logo emblazoned on its chest, was launched on April 3 and sells for RM4 each along with a key chain.
