KUALA LUMPUR, April 14 – Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said that during his tenure as MIC president, he had never selected bad candidates for the general election (GE).
He said he had always kept the list of candidates to himself and only announced it, about a week before the GE.
“I’m very happy to say that I had not selected any bad candidate,” he told reporters after officiating the 11th Outstanding Achievements Award in Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) 2012 for Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT)
here today.
In the 2008 General Election, the former works minister lost his stronghold Sungai Siput parliamentary seat to Parti Sosialis Malaysia’s Dr Michael Jeyakumar.
Samy Vellu is now special ambassador to the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation.
