KLANG, April 15 – The opposition’s strategy to continuously shift seats that they aspire to contest in the 13th General Election (GE13) shows a lack of commitment and loyalty to voters in their former constituencies. Deputy Minister of Information, Communications and Culture Datuk Maglin Dennis D’Cruz said their action reflects a lack of gratitude and responsibility on their part, to the people who had given them a mandate, in their respective constituency.
D’Cruz who attended a 1Malaysia breakfast gathering with residents of Taman Gembira, here, today was commenting on the decision of a number of opposition leaders, including DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang, to contest in Gelang Patah, Johor despite winning Ipoh Timur, Perak for two terms, and PAS Deputy President Mohamad Sabu who has been contesting since 1986 but has switched his base eight times.
Yesterday, Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim had hinted that he may contest the Port Klang state assembly seat despite having won the Ijok State Assembly seat in 2008. D’cruz, who is also the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) vice president told Bernama that the people must reject the action of such leaders.
