Comment by Prof Dr P. Ramasamy, Deputy Chief Minister II, Penang, on Perikatan Nasional’s new policy on adopted children
The new policy of the PN government requiring adopted children to have passports literally prevents from going to schools in the country. Under the PH government, adopted children had only to produce their birth documents and a court certifying to their adoption. But now it is different. It is impossible for these children to get their passports as their real parents are no more around. Denying adopted children education is a gross dereliction of responsibility on the part of the present government and what is more denial of the right to education.
