Liow Tiong LaiBENTONG: The emergence of independent candidates from the Opposition shows a clear split within the Pakatan Rakyat, said MCA.

Its deputy president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said it showed that there were internal disputes between PKR and PAS.

He was commenting on Pakatan candidates from PKR and PAS facing each other in one parliamentary and six state seats in the general election.

It was reported that PAS would convene a special meeting on Monday to discuss the overlapping candidacies between the party and PKR with regard to the Labuan parliamentary seat and six state seats of Sungai Acheh in Penang, Kota Damansara in Selangor, Bukit Besi, Kota Putera and Seberang Takir in Terengganu and Panti in Johor.

“They are fighting for their own individual interest and not for the people’s interest.

“Look at the way they are governing in different states. So how can they govern at a federal level,” he said after a visit at the Bentong Hotspring on Sunday.
