Muhyiddin YassinMUAR, April 21- Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today challenged the opposition to issue a statement to abolish the more than 200 1Malaysia products already introduced by the Barisan Nasional (BN) government should they win the general election this time.

He said the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) director of strategy Rafizi Ramli and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng must answer and explain to the rakyat that the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) and various other aid given by the BN to the people were useless and did not benefit them.

“Rafizi has made a statement, saying that if we (opposition) win, we will abolish BR1M.

“There are 200 types of 1Malaysia products, can the opposition make a statement to abolish them if they win. (We) want Rafizi and Guan Eng to reply,” he said at a gathering at Kampung Sri Pantai, Jalan Junid, here, today.

According to Muhyiddin, the opposition would definitely not respond on this matter and if they did not issue any statement, then it was very obvious that the products and policies already introduced by the government all this while had been right in raising the people’s living standard.

The Deputy Prime Minister said the assistance provided by the government including the subsidies had been proven to have prospered the rakyat and as such, there was no reason for the people to choose the opposition in the general election on May 5. Meanwhile, Muhyiddin said the government would continue to provide various assistance and programmes to develop the fisheries sector to improve fish landings and raise the fishermen’s standard of living.

At the gathering, Muhyiddin who is defending his Pagoh parliamentary seat, also introduced the BN candidates contesting the Muar parliamentary seat, Datuk Razali Ibrahim and candidates for the State Assembly seats of Maharani and Sungai Balang respectively, Datuk Zulkhairi Ahmad and Zaiton Ismail to the voters present, who were mostly fishermen.  He later handed out boat engine aid to the fishermen before joining the people for breakfast.
