“I see this as showing up an imminent crack in the pact. If the leaders cannot resolve this problem, who else in the pact can settle such matters?” he said.
He said he feared that if the opposition pact was given the mandate in the general election, the same thing would happen in the selection of cabinet ministers and the prime minister. Hasan spoke to reporters after launching the Jati machinery to help the Barisan Nasional (BN) election campaign, here.
At the end of nomination yesterday, it was found that PAS and PKR would be battling it out for the Labuan parliamentary seat and the state seats of Sungai Acheh (Penang), Kota Damansara (Selangor), Bukit Besi, Kota Putera and Seberang Takir (all in Terengganu) and Panti (Johor).
Hasan said Jati would help campaign for the BN in 49 parliamentary constituencies over the next 15 days until polling on May 5. Twenty-seven of these seats were where top leaders of the opposition pact were contesting and 22 were where Umno and other BN leaders were standing, he said. He invited NGO leaders who wanted to join the Jati campaign to contact the NGO through its website, www.JatiMalaysia.org.
