The Election Commission (EC)KANGAR, April 24 – In voting for a government of their choice on May 5, Malaysians must be mindful that it was Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s administration which hauled the local economy from the adverse effects of the eurozone and US subprime credit crises relatively quickly, enabling it to continue on the growth trajectory.

Urging them to give a fresh mandate to the Barisan Nasional government, Etiqa Insurance and Takaful Executive Vice-President Mohd Sani Ayob, said

“it took Malaysia quite a while to actually stand out again,” no thanks to the adverse effects of the global crises over the last five to eight years.

“With dividends being reaped from the Economic Transformation Programme and Government Transformation Programme, Malaysians must give a fresh mandate to BN, led by Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in the upcoming general election, to see even more results.

“It is critical to have that continuity, as there is more that we should be able to accomplish from many of the initiatives, for which we already have seen results,” he added.

He was speaking to Bernama on the sidelines of the Malaysia Unit Trust Week 2013 here today. Mohd Sani said under Najib’s leadership, Malaysia had also seen a quick transition to the right path despite intense external economic challenges,  especially in achieving the goals of becoming a developed nation under Vision 2020.

“Since succeeding Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and becoming the sixth Prime Minister of Malaysia on April 3, 2009, he has instituted bold and innovative changes to ensure Malaysia becomes a developed and high-income nation by 2020.

“Moving forward, I would say that businesses throughout the country must be  more aggressive and innovative and less dependent on government support for us to really be a regional and global player,” he added.
