NajibKUALA LUMPUR, April 26- Voters must weigh if the opposition front is capable of running the country when the parties within the pact do not share a common stand including on PAS’ declaration to implement hudud law if they form the government, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said today.

“Surely they have no credibility to win the trust of the people. They are always making conflicting statements,” said the prime minister who is also Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman.

Najib, who is leading the BN into the 13th general election for the first time, said the discord in the opposition was unlike the consensus approach adopted by the BN which had 13 component parties representing all the different communities in the country.

“We can have differences of opinion but we cannot be confrontational in matters concerning policies. In the BN, we do not differ in terms of the country’s major, fundamental policies. We have an understanding,” he said at a breakfast gathering in Ketapang polling district centre near Pekan.

PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang had admitted to having differences with DAP on the execution of hudud but for now, PAS is targeting to win the general election with DAP and Parti eadilan Rakyat (PKR), and implement its plan in stages.

MCA treasurer-general Datuk Seri Tan Chai Ho slammed DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, saying the Penang Chief Minister was still trying to confuse the people even after the clear stand by PAS.

“PAS has already eroded the rights of the non-Muslims in Kedah and Kelantan. Do the people still believe that DAP can stop PAS?” Tan, who is also Federal Territory MCA chairman, said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who was campaigning today in his Pagoh parliamentary constituency, urged the people to give 100 per cent support to the BN to maintain the existing government administration.

“There is no other choice but the BN to ensure the country’s future. (Everyone) can look at our manifesto and efforts all this while which had been excellent and involved all strata of society,” he said.

Sabah Deputy Chief Minister and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan likened Najib to a political doctor for his capability in treating the nation’s problems while the opposition had no performance record in comparison.

While the government was busy implementing various transformation programmes for the benefit of the people, the opposition had chosen to run down the government through the social websites to draw voters’ sympathy, Pairin said when launching the Sabah Foundation tour programme in Tambunan.

The prime minister returned to Pekan last night after a hectic two-day tour of Sabah’s west coast where he launched an additional manifesto to bring a new wave of development to the state which has been a BN stronghold.

He is taking his campaign to Perak tomorrow, making his first stop in Kuala Kangsar where Umno has sacked Wanita vice-head Datuk Kamilia Ibrahim for standing as an independent in the parliamentary constituency.

Meanwhile, a third arson attack has happened with the BN operations room in Buntong in Perak fire-bombed in a pre-dawn attack today by three youths who escaped while the fire damaged a few BN flags and was put out by a security guard.

Police have detained three suspects over the explosion that injured a campaign worker during a BN ceramah in Nibong Tebal on Tuesday night and are looking for a few more linked to the group.
