RAWANG, April 28 – As the general election campaign entered its second and final week, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak reminded the party machinery to check internal problems like sabotage to ensure that the Barisan Nasional ( BN) achieves an outstanding victory in the May 5 polls.
The prime minister and BN chairman said he could see good momentum in the people’s support for BN and the party’s status was rising, including in regaining the people’s support in many places.
“I just want to remind (the party machinery) that we must check (internal problems) or else it will affect our performance.
“I’ve said that a two-third victory is still achievable on condition that there are no internal elements to spoil our performance.
“(Internal problems) mean sabotage or shirkers and so forth. If we are united and work very hard there’s no reason why the BN cannot win with outstanding results,” he told reporters after meeting the villagers of Kampung Baru Sg. Terentang heretoday.
Najib said he saw that the support of the people in the peninsula was good in some places while in others the BN had to work more to gain their support.
“In some places where we did not think we could advance, we received (support), some places still need continuous effort.
“So, there’s one more week to go and we will step up our efforts and engagements and resolve several matters that may revolve around local issues,” he said.
In the opposition-led states, Najib said, he saw the blue wave except in Kelantantan where there was a red wave, a strong phenomenon for the BN to achieve success and wrest back these states.
“Although we know that it’s not easy to change the government at state level, our machinery is charged up and we will do our best to achieve this objective,” he added.
