KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 – Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said today theMalaysian people’s support for the Barisan Nasional (BN) is paramount to ensuring that the country keeps to its path of development, and continues on its journey towards complete transformation.
“This election is about fulfilling promises, bringing hope and upholding trustworthiness. It should not be about empty promises, spreading lies and instigating hatred,” the prime minister and BN chairman said in an open letter to every Malaysian eligible to vote in the country’s 13th general election on Sunday.
“I appeal to you to watch, listen and think carefully, before deciding on the future of the country,” he said.
Just over 13 million Malaysians are eligible to vote in this general election. Najib said Malaysians must also bear in mind that, at the end of the day, what decision they made and whom they supported would determine the future of the country.
He said the victor or loser of this general election would not be the BN or Pakatan Rakyat but Malaysia, its people and their children.
“Your vote should be a vote for Malaysia – a Malaysia that is developed and progressive. A Malaysia that is moving towards political, economic and social transformation.
“A Malaysia where every single one of us will be truly proud to live the concept of 1Malaysia,” he added.
Najib said that although it had been a challenging four years, the 13 million Malaysians would decide which path Malaysia would take in the next five years.
“As the ruling party, we (BN) have not had the liberty to be full-time politicians. Amidst all the political clamouring, the BN government has had to continue running the government and ensuring continued development of Malaysia and her people,” he said.
Najib said that though it had been an uphill battle, he was happy and proud to say that Malaysia had kept to its path of development and transformation. He thanked Malaysians for putting up with all the politicking that had been taking place in the country.
“I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for bearing with us and for putting up with the constant messaging and appeals that have come your way,” he said.
