PETALING JAYA: The counting of votes has only begun for half an hour yet camps online are already claiming their side has won GE13.
Social media was abuzz with rumours that Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat, have won between 120 to 138 seats each and hence have formed the new Federal Government.
In the Barisan camp, Netizens are claiming that the coalition had won over the states of Selangor, Kelantan and Kedah, citing unvonfirmed reports of early tally counts.
“Barisan has won big in Kelantan leading by 22 Dun seats. Barisan is ahead by 18 DUN seats in Selangor. Ahead by 26 DUN seats in Selangor,” tweets @Azrinizam, which was then retweeted by Barisan’s official Twitter page.
Another Netizen @RidzShah1 wrote “Unofficial – Parlimen MAS GADING LATEST BN 4075 DAP 2158 BEBAS (Tiki) 2991 BN leading. 30 more polling stations to come.”
Over at the Pakatan side, pro-Opposition group Anything But Amno (ABU) secretariat Haris Ibrahim claimed on Facebook that DAP adviser Lim Kit Siand had won by a huge margin in the parliamentary seat of Gelang Patah. @AsalkanBknUmno tweeted “Unofficial Report : DAP Wins Dato Keramat N29! Another Win!”
Meanwhile, early numbers are from tallying centres are beginning to leak out from both Barisan and Pakatan’s war room.
According to The Malaysian Insider, Pakatan sources said they would take 100 federal seats in its worst-case scenario, with the possibility of wresting Perak and Negeri Sembilan state assemblies.
They also said that the coalition would retain Kelantan, Kedah, Penang and Selangor.
However, Barisan sources said it was expecting to win Setiawangsa, Titiwangsa, Lembah Pantai and Putrajaya in the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory. ENDS
