KUCHING: The vibe at the residence of the Sarawak ChiefMinister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud at this early stage is upbeat.
The first official results nationwide came just after 7.50pm, showing a win for Barisan Nasional from Sarawak.
As at 8.30pm, BN has racked up convincing wins in the parliamentary seats of Mas Gading, Batang Lupar, Betong, Igan, Kanowit, Mukah, Lawas, Serian, Baram, Lubok Antu, Kapit and Limbang, according to the Election Commission.
Almost as if by magic, the Chief Minister strolled into the hall, where media personnel, members of the local business community and Barisan supporters have gathered, with his wife Puan Sri Ragad Kurdi Taib in tow.
The couple shook hands round the room and proceded to behind close doors for dinner.
There is a live feed of results direct from the Election Commission that is on display on two projection screens in the hall.
