KUALA LUMPUR: Foreign leaders have sent congratulatory messages to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on his general election victory.
On Monday, Najib received messages from British Prime Minister David Cameron, Thailand Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard on Tuesday called Najib to convey her best wishes.
Najib spoke with Gillard for about 10 minutes after chairing a special meeting with Barisan Nasional members of parliament at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here.
Najib is also expected to receive calls from several other world leaders later.
Barisan was returned to power when it won 133 of the 222 parliamentary seats to form the new federal government.
