SHAH ALAM, May 9 – PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, who continues to reject Malay solidarity through the unification of Umno and PAS, shows that he would rather see the Malays split because of politics, said Umno Veterans Club secretary Datuk Mustapha Yaakub.
He said if the PAS leadership insisted on upholding the stand of the former Kelantan Menteri Besar and continued to reject Umno’s friendship offer, Malay unity and Muslim solidarity in the country would be weakened and would eventually collapse one day.
“(Umno) Veteran hopes the PAS leadership will realise the danger that awaits the Muslim Malays in the country and despite the absence of Nik Adbul Aziz, efforts must be made towards unity before it’s too late,” he told Bernama.
Nik Abdul Aziz was reported last Tuesday to have rejected the unification unless Umno abandoned the national policy and accepted the Islamic policy.
