KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today congratulated Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar on his promotion as the new Inspector-General of Police.
Najib also congratulated Datuk Seri Mohd Bakri Zinin who was appointed as the Deputy Inspector-General of Police.
“Congratulation to Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (photo) and Datuk Seri Bakri Zinin for being appointed as the new Inspector-General of Police and Deputy IGP.
I hope the Royal Malaysia Police will continue to excel in maintaining peace,” he said in his latest tweet today. The appointment of Khalid and Mohd Bakri will take effect from Friday (May 17).
Khalid, 56, who was the Deputy IGP, succeeds Tan Sri Ismail Omar whose contract of service expires tomorrow.
Meanwhile Mohd Bakri, 59, was previously the Director of the Criminal Investigations Department, Bukit Aman.
