Five named as Ministers and Deputy Ministers to be made Senators

najibKUALA LUMPUR, May 16- Five people named as ministers and deputy ministers by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak when he announced the new cabinet line-up today would be appointed as senators to take up the posts.

They are Maybank president and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar and Transparency International Malaysia president Datuk Paul Low Seng Kuan, both of whom have been named as ministers in the Prime Minister’s Department; Kedah Umno Liaison Committee chairman Dato’ Paduka Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah, who has been made deputy minister of domestic trade, cooperatives and consumerism; Penang PPP chairman Datuk Dr J. Loga Bala Mohan, who has been made deputy minister of federal territories and Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) chairman P. Waytha Moorthy, who has been appointed a deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.

Low, Ahmad Bashah, Loga Bala and Waytha Moorthy are expected to be sworn in as senators tomorrow while Abdul Wahid is expected to take his oath as a senator on June 5.

Senator Datuk Seri Idris Jala is retained as a minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.
