KUALA LUMPUR, May 23- The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) fair is set to attract about 90,000 visitors at the Penang MATTA Fair to be held at the Times Square in Penang, starting July 5.
Its organising chairman Jeffri Sulaiman said the target was set in view of the upcoming school holidays which allows visitors to bring along their family members to the fair.
“We believe July is the perfect time to organize such an event as the school holidays is around the corner and this gives an opportunity for parents to plan their family vacation,” he said at the launch of the Penang MATTA Fair 2013, here, today.
He said a total of 190 exhibitors, comprising travel agents, tour operators, airlines, hotels and resort, theme park operator and National Tourism Organisations from a number of countries will take part in the three-day fair to be organised by MICEM Sdn Bhd, a MATTA wholly-owned subsidiary.
The first edition of the Penang MATTA Fair in April had attracted some 43,000 visitors. The Penang MATTA Fair will be opened for visitors from 10am to 9pm without any admission fee while members of the public can obtain more information on the Penang MATTA Fair website www.mattafairpenang.org.my.
