Kuala Lumpur – The Matta Fair, hailed as the hunting ground for travel enthusiasts begins today (Friday 4th September) in Kuala Lumpur at Putra World Travel Centre (PWTC) and will end on 6th of September.
The much-awaited fair will start at 10.00 am and close at 9 pm. The fair is organised by the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA).
Many travel agents and airlines participating in the fair are expected to give discounted prices on airline tickets and travel packages.
Malaysian AirLines System (MAS) has already announced that it will offer discounts ranging from 30% to 50% on promotion tickets to all destinations during the fair.
MATTA is usually held twice a year and the last one was held in March this year.
Newly constituted Malaysia Airlines Berhad under a new management is introducing aggressive business strategies to put the national carrier back on its track while simultaneously undertaking re-branding strategies. In this regard MAS is expected to play a key role in the MATTA fair today.
Thousands are expected to converge at the fair to get the best deals in ticketing and travelling.
The entrance fee for the fair is RM 4.00 per person and children under 12 years of age would be allowed free of charge.
However, some travel agents have expressed concerns whether the fair will be a success as expected because of the fall in ringgit, which would naturally increase the cost of air-travels and travel packages especially to the most popular destinations such as Europe and USA.
