KUALA LUMPUR, May 28 – The 3rd Global Women Deliver Conference 2013 which gathers among others policy-makers, advocates and world leaders representing over 150 countries, begins here today.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will deliver the keynote address and open the three-day conference at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), here.
Malaysia is the first Asian country to be given the honour to host the global conference, which were previously held in London and Washington D.C.
More than 3,000 delegates are attending the conference, the largest global conference of the decade to focus on the health and well being of girls and women.
The Global Women Deliver Conference 2013 is organised by Women Deliver, which has its headquarters in New York.
The three-day event this time carries three themes namely Women, Unmet Need for Family Planning and Post-2015 Development Framework.
Among international key participants include Melinda Gates of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, United Nations Population Fund Executive Director Babatunde Osotimehin and High-level Panel of Eminent Persons on the Post-2015 Development Agenda member Graça Machel.
