KUALA LIPIS, May 29 – The Barisan Nasional (BN) government’s promise to channel development projects in Orang Asli villages in the Cameron Highland Parliamentary area will be fulfilled, said Member of Parliament for Cameron Highlands Datuk Seri G. Palanivel.
He said construction of roads and houses and welfare aid to the Orang Asli would be continued.
“In fact, the government aspires to boost the standard of living of the Orang Asli. The government does not discriminate in implementing development for the people. The interest of every citizen is always given priority,” he said at a thanksgiving ceremony on BN’s victory in the 13th general election at the Pos Koyan Orang Asli village here, yesterday
Palanivel, who is also Natural Resources and Environment Minister, said the accusations of the opposition that BN sidelined the Orang Asli were not true at all as many opportunities were provided for the community.
He urged the Orang Asli community who wanted to get information on government development to contact the Orang Asli Development Department, elected representatives, penghulu, local leaders and Orang Asli chiefs (batin) and not through others.
