Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin (photo) said the affordable homes initiative was to assist in solving housing woes of low and middle income groups.
“We are discussing and studying the initiative in detail to ensure the dreams of the people in the state to own their own houses becomes a reality. Efforts are underway to identify land owned by the state government or its agencies,” he told reporters after visiting the Bazaar Karat, here, last night.
He added that through the scrutinizing exercise, developers who were not able to deliver their promises would also be identified and the necessary action taken against them.
Also present during his visit to the bazaar were Johor Datuk Bandar Burhan Amin, Tourism, Domestic Trade and Consumerism committee chairman Datuk Tee Siew Kiong and state committee chairman for Housing and Local Government Datuk Abdul Latiff Bandi.
