He said the manifesto made by a party was a ‘promise to the people’ which must be implemented without delay when it administered the government.
“As such, it is most important that it (the manifesto) be fulfilled and not to forget the rakyat who aspire to enjoy living in a state that is peaceful and prosperous and the people living in harmony,” he said at the presentation of the instruments of appointment to and the swearing in of Members of the State Executive Council (Exco) at the Istana Alam Shah, here today.
He said that every responsibility shouldered by the Exco members must be carried out intellectually and without emotion by placing the interest of the people and state above personal or party interest.
“When discharging your duty, Ahli-ahli Yang Berhormat (the Honourable Members) must be guided by the regulations and law that had been drawn up and you must never breach the law and do anything as you like,” he said, while reminding the Selangor elected representatives to stay away from corrupt practices.
At the same time, the Sultan reminded the elected representatives to understand the needs and requirements of the people and to always give emphasis on solidarity based on the concept of muhibbah between the races.
He said priority must be given to the development of Selangor besides ensuring that the people of various races lived in comfort and peace to be inherited by the future generaton.
His Highness said that the Selangor elected representatives must always be close to the people and understand their aspirations and needs and to alwaysresolve the problems faced by them.
“Do not promise the people the moon and the stars just to get their votes, but once you obtained their votes and are elected, you disappear from their sight.
“I don’t like those who take the opportunity to make personal gains after having received the mandate from the people,” the Sultan said.
