Sime Darby’s subsidiary signs Mou to build terminals at weifang port

sime-darbyKUALA LUMPUR, June 1- Plantation conglomerate Sime Darby Bhd’s indirect wholly-owned unit, Sime Darby Overseas (HK) Ltd, has signed a memorandum of understanding with China’s Weifang Municipal Port and Navigation Bureau to collaborate in building terminals at Weifang Port.

It said the project, estimated to cost more than RM1 billion, will consists of two 30,000 tonnes liquid chemical terminals, three 30,000 tosnnes multi-purpose terminals and three 30,000 tonnes general terminal.

In another development, Sime Darby said the MoU signed by its wholly-owned unit, Sime Darby Plantation, with Tenaga Nasional Bhd and Japan’s Mitsui and Co Ltd, to conduct a feasibility study on the potential of a biogas project was in the finalisation stage pending approval from both parties.

However, another MoU signed with the Malaysian Government, represented by the National Innovation Agency, and other participants for the development of the Oil Palm Bomass Centre is still pending finalisation by the respective parties.
