KOTA KINABALU, June 3- Mount Kinabalu, an iconic feature in Malaysia, especially in Sabah, will continue to be the main attraction in the local tourist industry, said Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz.
Apart from this, he said, Sabah’s other lure was in its 32 ethnic groups which were steeped in a unique blend of rich culture and tradition.
“The people of Sabah were already practising the 1Malaysia concept, well before it was introduced by the prime minister…this is something very unique (about Sabah),” he added.
Mohamed Nazri was speaking to reporters, following a visit to the Handicraft Promotion programme at the Lintasan Deasoka and Gaya Street Sunday Market before heading to the Sabah Tourism Board here today.
He said the ministry would give financial support and other aid to enhance the state tourism industry, adding that efforts are underway to make Sabah a tourism centre with international flavour.
In view of this, he said there was also a need for improved air connectivity to the state.
