KUALA LUMPUR, June 6- In conjunction with Israk and Mikraj, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak called on Muslims in the country to unite and continue with the transformation agenda to make Malaysia a modern and progressive Islamic country.
Recalling the incident where Prophet Muhammad led a prayer, which was joined by other prophets, at the Aqsa Mosque, he said it reflected the importance of unity in upholding the Muslim faith.
“Therefore, in conjunction with the Israk and Mikraj journey, let us all unite in continuing with our transformation agenda to make Malaysia a modern Islamic country which is progressive, developed and with high income by 2020,” he said in his Israk Mikraj greeting in the blog www.1malaysia.com.my yesterday.
He said the Israk and Mikraj journey which took place during the Muslim calendar of Rejab was a significant event for Muslims.
He said the journey would always remind Muslims of the Aqsa Mosque in Palestine.
The situation in Palestine today, he said, was a lesson on the importance to maintain the country’s peace and harmony, and a warning of how unfortunate it would be if there was foreign intervention in Malaysia.
‘It is hoped that this great event will bring a thousand blessings to usall,” he added. Israk was the prophet’s journey from the Grand Mosque in Mecca to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Palestine accompanied by angels Jibrail and Israfil.
Mikraj was the prophets’s ascension to the sky accompanied by Jibrail to meet Allah.
