KUALA LUMPUR, June 11 – The Barisan Nasional (BN) has decided to file 21 election petitions following the 13th general election (GE13), its secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said.
He said the BN had initially planned to file 50 petitions, but in order to save the court’s time and avoid unreasonable costs, the number had been reduced to only 21.
“After considering the advice from the special legal task force, the BN decided to file 21 election petitions,” he said in a statement.
Tengku Adnan said the BN did not want to raise petty issues in court and was convinced that the petitions filed had concrete reasons for consideration.
The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), PAS and DAP filed 25 petitions from yesterday until tomorrow for the parliamentary seats and 10 petitions for the state constituency seats in GE13.
