JUNE 17- A R Rahman is generally known for working through the night as it gives him peace of mind and a calm atmosphere to work. He also has another important reason for his night working patterns and detailed the same in a recent interview to a daily.
He is a staunch believer in God and makes sure that he performs namaz five times a day. The morning namaz is at 5 30 and he doesn’t wish to miss this prayer session and hence doesn’t sleep at say 2 or 3 am. That’s why he stretches his working hours to make sure that he reads his early morning prayers, and then only hits the bed for some sleep.
He feels he is much calmer when he reads his early morning namaz and his wife has even questioned him on the occasions when he gets angry, if he hadn’t performed his early morning namaz.
Rahman calls it ‘being in control of his demons’ when he prays early in the day.
