KUALA LUMPUR, June 23- Provocations and used of offensive words by a group of participants at the opposition-organised rally at Padang Merbok here is found to be the cause that led to two Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) personnel being roughed up at the venue.
Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department head Datuk Ku Chin Wah (photo) said a police report was lodged by one of the DBKL personnel, aged 51, on the incident.
In the report, the complainant claimed that the incident occurred when the two DBKL enforcement personnel wanted to take pictures of a tent, as well as to dismantle it, which the rally participants had erected, following an order for them to do so.
“The DBKL personnel went to the tent and asked those responsible to dismantle it when a group of about 20 to 30 people surrounded them,” he said through a short messaging service.
He said the group of people then started making provocations by pushing the DBKL official, as well as using abusive words at them.
Other DBKL staff and the police who were in the area went to the rescue of the two DBKL personnel.
