IPOH, June 24- After its poor performance in the recent 13th general election (GE13), MCA which is determined to carry out transformation for the sake of its future, wants to provide more space for young Chinese to be involved in the party.
Its deputy president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai (photo) said all party members must be open-minded about this approach, which would help in MCA’s transformation with new, fresh ideas coming fron the younger generation.
“So, I am sincerely appealing to all young Malaysian Chinese to come forward and help us transform the party. We will provide the platform, we will provide the necessary for the branches or areas for them to transform this party,” he said after attending a closed-door dialogue with MCA members, here, today.
Liow said ideas and proposals from young Chinese could make MCA more dynamic and in tune with the changing times as the future would be for them.
“As leaders, the time will come for us to leave the party and the young will have to ensure its future. This transformation is for the future of this party, and our next generation and the country,” he added.
Liow said the MCA needed to chart and execute the party’s transformation, in order to not just give the best services to the people but be able to win in every general election.
He said after MCA’s bad loss in the GE13, the party now needed to fulfil the aspirations of the young generation by considering their views and suggestions in facing the next general election.
