GEORGE TOWN, June 28- Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng will propose Bukit Tambun State Assemblyman, Law Choo Kiang as the State Assembly Speaker with Sungai Bakap State Assemblyman, Maktar Shapee as the Deputy Speaker.
“I will propose this motion on Friday and First Deputy Chief Minister Rashid Hasnon will support it.”
In a statement here, Lim said the Penang State Executive Council had unanimously proposed Penang PKR chairman Datuk Mansor Othman as the State Assembly Speaker.
“However, after consulting with PKR adviser and opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, we agreed that Law Choo Kiang be named the State Assembly Speaker with Maktar Shapee as the Deputy Speaker.”
Lim said Anwar will meet with all relevant parties to explain the decision.
